The only thing that I've found that works is to just continue to give them love and be there for them. Yes, you have to continue to show them how important school, truth etc. are and it's very hard to be patient when the child gets whatever they want from the other parent, but eventually they will find out that you're the stable parent who wants what's best for them and you are always there with loving arms. You just have to keep doing what is right. AND PRAY A BUNCH!

The more you resist a situation the harder it is. You should not give in entirely however, I would suggest from my experiences (my child is sixteen now) that you get your nine year old some
counseling, and maybe eventually try to get all parties to draft with expert help a parenting plan that will help eliminate a lot of misunderstandings. And you and your husband excersize a lot! Get out and do whatever you can to relieve your stress when you have time, hope that this helps.
