Why isn't PAS a Recognized 'Diagnosis'?

I have a 14 year old son who has now been brainwashed to hate me through lies. I have been devorced for 10 years. 3 years ago, after $200,000 in legal fees and constant court battles from my ex husband seeking custody, I finally gave up thinking this would stop the war. Oh no! Now I am facing extreme alienation from my son who has become as abusive towards me as his father use to be. Seeing this behavior, I have researched and have sought legal advice. All I get is, the court system listens to the kids and there isn't much you can do. Give it up and hope that your son will see the light when he grows up. This is after 4 different lawyers. The judges are not much better. Because my ex and my son moved away, 2 years ago I have less time with my son. Not to mention, he no longer wants time with me. I have only wanted my son to be has healthy as possible in a devorced situation. I know that boys need their fathers and I have always supported their relationship. I am finding that I have no more ability to cope. How do I protect my son from becoming another "abusive" person? I try love, patience, and indurance however this doesn't always work in the real world. I see little is happening in the legal system to stop PAS!!!!! Thank you for reading my words of frustration. I see and read this too often. I have been seeing this so much lately... I can hardly believe that this diagnosis and/or syndrome is NOT RECOGNIZED. I know now that this is a real problem with recognition. Until the powers to be recognize this... and it will take someone very intelligent that can see through all the manipulations there is no hope for these children! The parents (alienator) know not what they are doing. I am finding out it is not the lower class or lower intelligent type people but from scientists, authors, lawyers, judges, doctors, engineers etc. that are the abuser. I feel for everyone of these people who have written on this message board. I am not saying that everyone is a litgitimate case I am sure that a PAS can validat this. But as for the near future, I see no hope in site. History has proven... until someone very powerful, high profile, etc. exposes this it is a dead end! I pray for all those little childrens heart that have been affected be mended and pray for their healing. Thank you.  (Last changed: February 26, 2006)

I also want to mention I have tried to cintact PAS connected people and no response. I have tried to ask for assistance and names of attorneys and no response. There is no form of networking, listserve, newsletteror forum. I see not legislation news, updates etc. to get noticed. I am sure there are people out there that would gladly put up their $$$$ for a lobbiest! This must be another one of those off the wall "lets see what happens scams". I just see people sitting around complaining like myself, I don't have the knowledge to fit the legislators, courts etc. All I think it would take is a little education! My husband is the NCP of 2 sons. They want nothing to do with him. Of course when we first read about PAS we were both stunned...it was as if someone had watched their interactions and written about them. You guys probably all know what I'm talking about. Anyway, once we were informed, we offered this information to the legal community involved with his case. My husband and his ex-wife have a parenting referee assigned to them and she is the authority on PAS in our region of the country. Sure that helps but I think it is too little too late kind of thing. Part of the problem may be that there is a psychological problem that cannot be remedied by the courts. We are at the point of giving up. We are physically, emotionally, and financially drained. We have continued fighting for the kids, believing that children benefit from 2 loving parents in their lives. Maybe they are better off with one parent when there is so much antagonism. I just don't think anyone has the answers yet.   (Last changed: February 26, 2006)

I cant tell you how real this is. One of my daughters just slipped out of exsistence with me and her sister and hasnt talked to us in 3 years. She is with her dad and stepmom. I pray evryday that she would just call me. I love her and miss her so much. There is no one that can do anything to help me. I just want to talk to her. I have been a good mom.
